This easy Air Fryer Potatoes and Sausage meal is a one pot dinner that everyone is sure to love. Plus, it’s all air fried so no oven needed!

AN EASY AIR FRYER MEAL

The idea for this recipe actually came from a follower! She said she loved all of the one pot/pan meals like the Sheet Pan Chicken Parmesan andCrock Pot Beef Stew recipes but wanted some one pot meal recipes for her air fryer. So, that got the wheels turning for me. If I was going to come up with a recipe it had to be easy and family-friendly.And two things my family all like to eat are potatoes and sausage!

TIPS FOR MAKING AIR FRYER POTATOES AND SAUSAGE:

  • Purchase fully-cooked smoked sausage – don’t buy raw. Use whatever smoked sausage is your family’s favorite.
  • Turkey sausage or vegetarian sausages will all work for this recipe.
  • Make sure to occasionally shake the basket while cooking. This will help to ensure that everything gets evenly cooked.
  • Add additional veggies that your family loves. Broccoli, green peppers and cauliflower work wonderful in this.
  • Most air fryer recipes like this one can be made in the oven. See my how-to post on converting air fryer recipes to oven recipes.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)

  • baby potatoes – you can also use russet potatoes or Yukon gold potatoes – they all work!
  • small onion – if you don’t like onion just leave it out or perhaps substitute with a shallot – some people find that a much more mild onion flavor.
  • olive oil – if you only have vegetable oil, that is fine.
  • seasoned salt – if you have another seasoning you like to use, go for it. Cajun seasoning also works really nicely here.
  • smoked sausage – you could also use a polska kielbasa or even chorizo

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER POTATOES AND SAUSAGE MEAL:

Slice potatoes in half. Then cut up onion into large chunks.

Place potatoes and onion into a gallon-size zip top bag.

Pour in oil, seasoned salt, garlic powder and black pepper. Seal up bag and move potatoes and onions around until they are thoroughly coated in oil and seasoning.

Spray the basket of a 6-quart air fryer with nonstick cooking spray.Pour coated potatoes and onions into basket. Cook at 400F degrees for about 15 minutes. Shake the potatoes about halfway through.

While the potatoes are cooking, cut the smoked sausage into 1-inch slices. When potatoes have cooked for 15 minutes, toss in the smoked sausage and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

When finished, sprinkle with a little dried parsley flakes (optional.)

Optional: Serve with honey mustard, dijon mustard, ketchup or BBQ sauce for dipping.

WOW! Simple recipe made a very delicious meal. The potatoes and onions were seasoned perfectly and the potatoes had a nice crispy exterior. Sausage was cooked just right. Thank you so much. This is going to be a regular in our house.

I loved this! I did have to cook it longer than the 15mins as my air fryer does not go to 400 degrees. It goes to 392, this reminded me of when I was young and I went to my grandparents house for dinner and this is what my grandma would cook. Thank you so much for the memory refresh!! 10/10 thank you for the recipe!

  5. When would we add the vegetables? I’d like to add zucchini.

I’m guessing I should chop them in chunky pieces similar in size to the potatoes?

    1. I haven’t tested it with a variety of vegetables so I can only guess. It also depends on how soft you like your vegetables. But I would say add them in with the potatoes. Make sure all your veggies are cut to the same size. The smaller you dice, the quicker they will cook.

  6. Has anyone done this with diced potatoes instead of small potatoes cut in half? I have made a turkey Keilbasa hash on the stove and the potatoes are diced. Would there be a difference in cooking time? Thanks!

The time is perfect for the air fryer! I used my Kalorik Maxx Air Fryer Oven with the basket for this. For the potatoes, I added a little onion powder and a dash of cayenne (because I like some heat) in addition to the seasonings of this recipe. I used half of a large red onion. When it was time to add the sausage, I scattered some drained and patted dry sauerkraut over the top too. I made a serving and tossed it in a small amount of spicy brown mustard. SO DELICIOUS, FAST, AND EASY!

    1. Hey Matt! Nope, you sure don’t, you can certainly use your favorite small yellow potatoes for this!

That section of text between the two photos with the zipper bags…says black powder, I totally know it means black pepper, but I did get a giggle thinking “boom!”, lol. Just to let you know. I love me those little potatoes too, sooo flavorful and quick cooking. Thanks so much for this recipe, you have so many wonderful recipes. Much love!
